When friends and family come to visit us in Bangkok, we always see to it that we’d take them to King’s Park. Going to a park, for me, is a lot more fun plus it’s less expensive compared to going around malls and shopping centers.
Peace and quiet.. and we had loads of fun feeding the birds!
All smiles– it’s such a perfect place to get away from the bustling city!
The place is so huge we decided to rent this tram for 9 USD. This took us to a 30-minute ride around the huge park
It’s such a beautiful afternoon to ride on one of these pedal boats– err swans!
The kids and our guest, Chem enjoyed the swings. Ria also got to try the hoola-hoop
Suan Luang Rama IX Park is the largest public park in Bangkok and is located in the Bang Na area. A good distance away from any BTS or MRT station, this tranquil and peaceful park is the perfect spot for those that wish to get away from the tourists and forget that you’re in a big city for a few hours.
The park was created to celebrate the 60th Birthday of His Majesty the King in 1987 and there is a museum in the park dedicated to his work.
It’s not everyday that we get to have relatives visiting so when we learned that our Tita Elvie (my papa’s younger sister) was visiting Thailand, we were excited. We did not expect to spend that much time with her as she was with a group and they had their itinerary. During her last day, though, she was on her own so we got to meet up.
The greatest blessing about it is that she was here in time for a 2-day Buddhist holiday so we were really able to spend one whole day with Tita Elvie before we took her to the airport.

We were so happy we had a visitor and had a great time catching up!
We had a chance to go to Paragon Mall to meet up with my uncle who has come to visit Bangkok with his family. When we got there we got a call from him that there would be changes in his schedule and we would have to wait a few more hours. Looked like we had to kill the time! So we took a few photos…
Paragon mall has this beautifully decorated mini-lagoon that would greet you as soon as you enter.
The kids and I pose at Paragon’s entrance.
Outside the mall is this beautiful fountain
Paragon’s underground is the Ocean Park. But it is so expensive there is no way we could ever afford it! So we were happy to pose with some “sea creatures” outside. Haha!
This is not a “sea” creature for sure, but it does not matter…
Oh, this hungry but loving shark hopefully is not too hungry to eat my two little ones!
And the family pose with “Tom Cruise” the wax… Hmm, do you think he is a bit taller here than in real life? I don’t really know. Have not met the guy in person yet. Haha!
