Happily Nesting

I remember posting about our lovebirds named Vanilla and Sky.  Sadly, when we went to the Philippines two months ago for a 5-week vacation, both of them died.  They were taken cared of by our neighbors next door but she said she just found one of them dead one day and a few days after that, the other one died, too.  But the kids’ friends gifted us with another pair not long after we settled back in!  Bless their hearts.

The kids decided to name them “Flow” and “Glow”.

Flow is the female (the blue one) while Glow’s color is yellow-green.

Here are some candid shots of the couple:

Hubby was thinking they're going to need leaves or straw to make a nest so he left an unused, old broom inside their cage!

And so they wasted no time!

We are not really sure if Flow is expecting, but we would be more than happy to have a little baby bird soon!  Experts say that it would be good to take lovebirds out of their cages once in a while to play with them, but we have not done that yet.  Our cage is outside the house so we might lose them forever if we do that! :)

Here is a short video of taking care of lovebirds.

Although the lady in the video is pretty sure you can take the birds out using a towel so that you don’t get bitten, a comment says that the bird might interpret it as a predator trying to attack so it might not be the best idea to get a bird out. Trust is important. Once the bird trusts you, it will not bite and would not mind being held.
